Every profession on this page is taken to three hundred and seventy five with the materials gathered rather than bought off your auction house with your gold. That is most of the cost and all of the time: engineering and enchanting are expensive because the middle of both is a wall of mats, not because the skill points are hard.

Jewelcrafting is new, and worth it

The Burning Crusade introduced gem sockets and jewelcrafting with them, which makes it the one profession on this list that pays for itself on a raiding character. It also means nobody on a fresh realm has it yet, so the early cuts sell for whatever you ask. If that is the plan, order it first rather than last.
