How it is played

Wingman is 2v2 on short maps and it runs the same eighteen skill groups as competitive, but the rank is a separate thing entirely. Winning in Wingman moves nothing on your five versus five rank and vice versa. It is also the only one of the two that belongs to your account rather than to a map, so there is nothing to pick here beyond where you are and where you want to be.
Two players instead of five means less of the match is outside your booster's control, so the same eighteen groups cost less here than they do on the main ladder. That is the only reason: it is the same work done in a smaller lobby, not a different standard of play.
