A prestige is a wipe, which is why it costs what it costs
Prestiging puts the character back to level one. Everything above the small carry-over is gone and has to be earned again, and the next prestige is not even available until the account is back at seventy-nine. So one prestige is one full levelling run plus the reset, and six of them is most of a year of play. This is the most expensive product on the site and the price is the honest arithmetic of that.
Why the fourth one costs nearly three times the third
The requirements climb at the top of the ladder, not linearly. Prestige four onward demands more before it can be taken at all, which is why the last two steps are most of the total. Buying one at a time is supported and usually the right move.
